Our Impact

As we reflect on our first 50 years, we celebrate our accomplishments and recommit to what makes us special and defines the Touro experience:

  • Building a stronger and more vibrant Jewish tomorrow
  • Putting students at the heart of education
  • Strengthening and building communities from within

Each year since Dr. Lander founded Touro, this institution has worked even harder than the year before to provide quality, community-minded education to all our students. I’m so proud of our first fifty years, and eager to continue this mission.

A Vibrant Jewish Tomorrow

Fifty years ago, our founder Dr. Bernard Lander created Touro College so Jewish students wouldn’t have to choose between observing their faith and pursuing their academic and professional goals. Our ongoing commitment to Jewish traditions and values makes Touro an institution that appeals to and serves Jewish and non-Jewish communities alike.

Judaic Values

Student-Centered Education

In a system that spans the country and the globe, the hallmarks of the Touro experience remain remarkably consistent. That’s because our commitment to providing a flexible, practical, affordable, supportive educational environment appeals to all of the student populations we serve. All Touro students receive personalized attention, build close relationships with faculty mentors and their peers, and graduate ready to embark on careers that make an impact.

Building Strong Communities

Our commitment to social justice and equal opportunity compels us to be active partners in the communities we serve. We train students who are passionate about giving back and we design programs with community needs in mind, whether that be in education, social work, law, and especially, medicine and healthcare.
