50 years ago Dr. Lander dreamt of creating an outstanding university system. Today it is a magnificent reality with ever-greater opportunities for our students, faculty and staff, and an agility to embrace cutting-edge methodologies in our delivery of a high-quality education.

Our History

In 1971, Touro College welcomed its first class of 35 students in Midtown Manhattan. Just four years later, over 1000 students were enrolled. Since then, over the last 50 years, we've grown into a global network of schools serving nearly 19,000 students annually.

Our Impact

Rooted in Jewish tradition, and built on Judaic Values, Touro puts its mission — to educate, to serve, to enrich humankind — into practice every single day. As we reflect on our first 50 years, we celebrate our accomplishments and recommit to what makes us special and defines the Touro experience: building a stronger and more vibrant Jewish tomorrow, putting students at the heart of education, and strengthening and building communities from within.
